It is the oldest Commerce College in Solapur area, has its Local Advisory Committee consisting of Eminent Business Personalities, Members of Judiciary and Academics. Under the stewardship of the people of intellect and industry, the College has completed 52 years of its meritorious educational service. The College has maintained its unique position in the field of Education with its teachers and students contributing substantially to every area of life. Note: Students should apply for these scholarships in prescribed form and submit all necessary documents as per schedule notified to them on notice boards. College does not take any responsibility if students do not apply before the last date announced. Student shall be responsible for the payment of all dues payable to the college. The central library is one of the oldest and biggest libraries in the university area. It has maintained an every growing collection of reference books, periodicals, journals, encyclopaedias, the CDROM collection, the Internet facility and the Xerox facility. The college has a spacious and well equipped library. There are over 30353 books 6 dailies 7 weeklies 5 Fortnightly 15 monthlies and 12 quarterlies. Regular students of the college will be ordinary members of the section and the library will be ordinarily be kept open from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all working days. From 1st December onwards the reading room will be kept open from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. Books are issued to the students for use at home. Sets of books as per U.G.C. Book Bank Scheme are issued to deserving students on merit basis for use at home for the whole year. The student should follow all the library rules. The College students have shown their extra-ordinary performance in sports by winning Zonal Championship and by acquiring 1st positions in Inter University, Inter State and National Competitions. Some of our sportsmen and sportswomen have participated in International Sports Competitions also. The College Gymkhana provides the facility for Cricket, Tennis, Badminton, Hockey, Football, Volley-ball, Lawn tennis and various Indian games. Our College has well-equipped playgrounds with stadium, the Open-Air-Theatre, Auditorium-cum-Recreation Hall (Velankar Hall). The College has excellent record of achievements in sports. Our college participates in all Sports Activities arranged by District Sports Authority & Directorate of Maharashtra State Youth & Sports Departments & University. The college provides the facility of NCC for boys & Girls. The students of B.Com-I are eligible to get enrolled as NCC cadets for the three year course. The admission for NCC starts from second week of July. It is compulsory for the cadets to attend camps to appear for B & C certificate examination. N.C.C. unit has strength of 110 boys and 50 girls. The College strongly believes in the development of social commitment among the students for which it offers the facility of N.S.S. The N.S.S. unit has an enrolment capacity of 100 volunteers. The college provides the facility of N.S.S. The students of B.Com-I & B.Com-II are eligible to join two year course of N.S.S. The students should join the N.S.S. course in the beginning of the acadamic year. It is compulsory for the students to attend & participate in all the activities & camps organised by N.S.S. Extra Curricular Activities: In the area of co-curricular activities, the students of this College have made history by winning a number of prestigious Trophies and Shields at University, Inter University and State Level elocution and debating Competitions. The College has always been the foremost in cultural activities also. A number of our students have got prizes in Shivaji University and State Level Youth Festivals right from 1981 onwards, which was the year of commencement of such a Cultural Event like Youth Festival at University and State Level. Besides, the College has stepped forward to organise the 22nd Central Youth Festival of Shivaji University, Kolhapur the year 2003. All the participant Colleges and visitors have appreciated the discipline, perfect organisation, co-ordination and hospitality of this College, which they have experienced during the Youth Festival. The college organizes various extra curricular activities to provide an opportunity for the students to develop all round personality. Various competitions such as elocution, debate, quiz, poster making, rangoli, flower decoration, poem writing, painting etc. are conducted. Besides, lectures of eminent personalities are arranged regularly. ‘Akshaywani’, the wall paper, provides a platform to the students to express themselves in the form of articles, poems, painting, etc. University organizes youth festival every year. Number of competitions such as folk dance, Skit, Mine, One-act play, collage, instrument, playing etc. are organized at zonal, inter-zonal, regional & national level. The students should take an advantage to develop their talents. The college provides Hostel accommodation for 350 boys & 50 girls purely on Merit basis. The student seeking admission for hostel must apply separately. Prizes: Prizes are given to the students who stand first in total & first in various subjects in the Examinations provided they have passed in all subjects in their particular examination. Certificates of merit are also awarded for distinction in Sports, Fine Arts, N.C.C., N.S.S. etc. The prizes for Akhil Bharatiya Dharmashiksha Examination, Good Behaviour and Moral Excellence, Cultural Activities, Ideal Student, Best Sports Person are awarded at the Annual Prize Distribution function of the College. Other Details: The administration of the College is clean, transparent and efficient. The teaching staff enjoys full cooperation from the management in the discharge of duties. The decision-making has always been directional rather than restrictive. The Heads of all Institutions enjoy full functional autonomy in routine administration and regular activities. Personal dignity and liberty of all the teaching and non-teaching employees is always honoured and no financial obligation is levied upon them. The Local Managing Committee and the Local Advisory Committee guide and help the Local Secretary in routine matters of the Institutions. The college has Students’ Cell, Alumni Association, Parents’ Association, Career Guidance Cell etc. The College has been assessed and accredited by the NAAC, Bangalore and is awarded “B” Grade. In concurrence with the noble aims and objectives of Dayanand Institutions, the Dharma-Shiksha Education Curriculum is introduced for the benefit of students. Havans and Prayers are conducted in the Boys Hostel. The College has a reputed Alumni consisting of Ph.D. holders, Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Advocates, Businessmen and women, Social Workers, Artists and Authors who have created their unique position of dignity in the society with their valuable services to people.
